I can see the light!

Hi there! Hope Christmas and New Year were very merry and happy!

No chance in test driving, no chance in any driving so on with more jobs. As the car stands for long periods of time the battery goes flat. I've been using a Calix battery trickle charger but externally, so every time I use it I have to remove the bonnet. Decided to mount it in the engine bay and add an external socket instead.
Drilled a hole in the panel next to the engine earth strap. The Calix BC-1205 comes with the unit and cable to connect to the battery. Then there's a cable from the unit to the socket and finally a cable from the socket to mains plug

Here it is held in place with the rubber strap holding the battery in place. Cables connected permanently to the battery terminals.
Plugged in and nicely trickle charging.

Upgrading the gauges (again) this time with white KUS gauges. Now spending time cleaning up the wires and changing the plug(s) I used last time. Had to replace the fuel pressure sensor too as it's not compatible with the new gauge.
Fuel pressure sensor
Out with the old, in with the new.
Have a GPS speedometer now!
A lot of spaghetti too - for the moment!

I decided to upgrade to LED headlight bulbs too. Found some H4's on Aliexpress that were very reasonable, about £30 a pair. I was a bit worried they wouldn't fit in the headlights but they fitted perfectly!
Very good quality. Fan unit at the back and cable plug to fit into the original socket.
Plugged into the original connector.
In place in the light cluster.

The console is now done. I used a 15 pin connector for all the gauges and switches. Easy to unplug if I need to alter anything. The white gauges look much better and easier to read than the pro-sport gauges.
I'm happy with the results.

One of the last jobs I would like to do before spring arrives is give the car a good polishing and also remove some of the many scratches that have collected over the 6 and a half years the car has been on the road. I started by ordering some Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 scratch/blemish remover, 5000 grade paper (if I really need it). I also sent off for an electric polisher and pads from Aliexpress, which I hope to get in a few days. In the mean time I tried Scratch X around the fuel cap as there is a petrol stain and minute scratches I thought I would try removing first. Hard work so I'll wait for the polisher to arrive.
Removed the number plate, petrol filler etc ready to use the hand polisher when it arrives.

There have been a couple of clear sunny days but unfortunately while I've been at work so no chance yet to test the new dif, led headlights and everything else I've done over the last 4 or so months. But soon!
